The Earldom of Caulfeld

Sitting at the north-eastern end of the Valhain valley chain, the Earldom of Caulfeld is the one of the smaller and earldoms in the kingdom. Far from the trade routes, Caulfeld is protected and insulated from the outside world. During the summer when the passes are navigable Caulfeld sends shipments of rare spices and some metals west into Wayfarer's Retreat and then south to Arandale for trade. In the winter, the earldom tends to close off contact with the rest of Valhain. Situated on the eastern slope of the Skyreach Mountains, Caulfeld gets enough rain to support agriculture easily, giving it ample resources to provide for a sizable population. Since the orcish invasion, Caulfeld has been the site of several skirmishes and two reported slaughters committed by small orcish bands that have managed to infiltrate the valley from the east.

The Earldom of Jasperhold

The Jasperhold for which his family is named was a rich but short-lived series of mines and towns in Harvale. With no agriculture or other source of wealth, the associated towns dried up and blew away when their mines were tapped out. The Jasperhold family no longer has any subjects to speak of, but they retained their wealth. Their income has been transferred to trading operations, and their household is based in the capital now.
