Born to Lord and Lady Aranson, Elizabeth is a child prodigy. She has always excelled at her lessons, including learning to control her natural gift of magick. Elizabeth is of medium height, with long golden hair, bright blue eyes, and extremely pale skin. Elizabeth has been raised in several places. Until she was twelve most of her time was spent in her family's estate at Exeter, along the trade route between Leffar's Gate and Westgate. After a fire consumed the keep and caused the Font atop the keep's central tower to explode, Elizabeth moved to the capital. Since her family is so centrally connected to Valhain's politics, Elizabeth spent most of her summers in the capital.

Before King Patrick's meteoric rise to the throne, the Aranson line had controlled the monarchy for several centuries. Both of Elizabeth's parents believed that their family (and Elizabeth) were the proper heirs to the throne. After her mother's agonizing poisoning and her father's death killing her assassin, Elizabeth became the nominal Lady of the Aranson line. Her aunt, Lady Riverwood, was named her regent. Elizabeth threw herself into her studies with a fanatical zeal, turning what had been sporadic advancement due to her short attention span into steady growth.

Elizabeth has established a fierce rivalry with Mallorie. Starting when they were very young, Elizabeth has sought any opportunity to humiliate (or aggravate) the Crown Princess. Agents many believed to be loyal to Elizabeth began spreading unrest after Lady Riverwood was named her regent. Their rumors and whispers have been aimed at undermining the legitimacy of the Westfall line.

It should be noted that when the Paladins of the Chantry pursued the Dark Mage Jovan through Valhain, Elizabeth met many of the knights. While the Crown Princess was unsuccessful in trying to get Elizabeth married off to one of the foreign nobles, the young Lady of Exeter made a positive impression on the Paladins.

Elizabeth is a mage who specializes in the magicks of mind and space. She often knows far more than her political enemies would like. Elizabeth has been known to spend days locked alone in a study, scrying locations both distant and close. The Lady Exeter has never had formal training under the Archmage, so her skills are widely viewed as being both untested and unrefined. Many don't believe she will ever grow into any great strength as a mage given her single-minded devotion to politics.

Since the campaign has started, the player characters have learned several things about Elizabeth: 1: The common people still strongly associate Elizabeth with her help in bringing down the evil mage, Kemmel. 2: While rumors fly about the succession currently, the accepted "fact" is that Lady Riverwood had a stroke. She later died from complications of her stroke. It is not widely believed that she was murdered. 3: Elizabeth sent out messages calling for a Landsmeet immediately upon the death of the Archmage, which appears to have been about the same time that the characters' parents were killed.

At the end of the first arc (Welcome to the Deep End) Elizabeth fled Valhain - although not entirely by her choice. Stephen, her court mage, discovered that the party was about to find hard evidence of Elizabeth's misdeeds. Since Elizabeth was sleeping off not sleeping by magical intervention, Elizabeth wasn't available to plot and plan. As a result, Elizabeth and Stephen have fled to points west, looking for "the Oasis."
