The Neighbors to the West
To the west of Valhain is the grasslands which fade to desert and back. On these lands lie the Al-Ludie to the west, and to the south, a mighty empire of the Dubial.
The Royal Dictatorship (Al-Ludie)
The most immediate and possibly largest trading neighbor for the kingdom of Valhain, this country composed of desert and grassland is ruled by several royal families who participate in a semi-nomadic lifestyle. They form large trading caravans that meet with merchants at the entrance to Westgate. Their primary trade is in silk and spices with additional fine glasswork and fine metalworking (jewelry, some weapons). They also have been known to have the finest artisan healers and their textbooks on anatomy are considered the best in the world. In addition to being fierce fighters, they are devout to the Knisja, a monotheistic religion with conservative roots. Different families follow slightly different variations on the Knisja and the teachings of the prophet, but abstaining from mind altering drugs and obedience to the head of household are main tenents. The Al-Ludi are more accepting of the differences in religion than any of their neighbors to the west, but they have little in common with the people on the eastern side of the Silj range.
