Mallorie Dominique was born to King Peter Harold and Queen Evelin Lise sixteen years ago. As the firstborn and the newly minted heir, Mallorie was given a name that the advisors deemed inappropriate. Mallorie meaning "luckless" was not a name that anyone wanted, but the king insisted, and then went on to make the name popular with the populace. He gave a speech where he illustrated that luck has no place in a ruler, and that bad luck is just as common as good luck. A ruler must put their faith in the four and rule from that base of strength, or so King Peter insisted. The rest of the houses contented themselves with Mallorie's second name, preferring to call her by her entire name if possible.

Mallorie was not the pampered child that she could have turned out to be. Her father insisted on hours and hours of training, even at a young age. She knew little tenderness from King Peter but spent much time with him, toddling after him and watching from the corners as he attended meeting after meeting. The ideas that Peter drilled into his daughter was that Valhain was the most important thing, and that she would have to sacrifice many things to preserve country. But with the sacrifice, she would also need to be prepared to take care of herself, as she would be the head of state, and if the head of state was deeply unhappy, the country would falter. Balance, he pounded into her. You must maintain a state of balance. Look at the problem from as many angles as you can, and make a decision quickly. If you tarry too long, you will be paralyzed and unable to do what you must.

And to that end, in addition to her other training, King Peter also mandated that she have the training that a general must have. Because there was the remote possibility that Mallorie would have to lead men in battle, she had to learn tactics, and a bare minimum of self defense. Though she has Bray Stone to bodyguard her, she can be wicked with a dagger.

But the Queen was not pleased to see how much of Mal's education was focused purely on political means. Evelin took Mal in hand and taught her to read people in social situations, to have empathy and to be able to react appropriately to others. Mallorie did not have time for the gentler crafts with most of her time taken up with lessons and meetings, but she understands the value of having courtly women who do practice the gentle arts. Nor does Mal have the gift of sorcery, but she also values that greatly.

Mallorie realizes she is missing some of the skills that are required to effectively lead a country and she supplements that with her circle of friends. She counts on them to help her lead, but never loses sight of the fact that she is the daughter of the king, and must be careful to balance the needs and wants of her friends as well.

Mallorie has been blessed with a striking presence and a great force of will. She has her fair share of pride, but also of justice. Physically, she's of medium height with long dark hair, grey eyes and the typical features of her house.
