COMMUNITY NEWS - MEMBERS

1] - The Pi At 30: Walt Mossberg Presents
........................

Few groups have been as vibrant and accomplished as the Washington Apple
Pi (WAP) has been for the last thirty years. On June 28, WAP will
celebrate its 30th anniversary with a meeting featuring special guest
speaker Walt Mossberg, technology columnist for the Wall Street Journal.

Learn from the best.

2] - MacAttorney: Over 7,000 Members
........................

Randy Singer is known for his presentations in the Apple User Group
Lounge, writing "The Macintosh Software Guide for the Law Office" and
co-authoring some editions of the popular Macintosh Bible, but he has
another claim to fame. The user group he founded, MacAttorney, just
surpassed the 7,000 member mark.

Congrats to Randy and members of MacAttorney.

3] - Emirates Mac: Shuffle Success
........................

Many groups are pondering the move from hard-copy newsletter to an
electronic version that members can download or read online. The worry
is that the look and feel of a traditional newsletter will be lost.

Contributing Editor Magnus Nystedt, Editor in Chief Omran Al-Owais and
the team at Emirates Mac produce "Shuffle", a great example of what a
well produced online user group newsletter can be.

Check it out.

celebrating its eighth anniversary with a special meeting, including

- a presentation from Norman Hollyn of USC
- a first look at Black Magic Design's soon-to-ship D.264 encoder
- a Stump the Gurus session
- and the usual Tip of the Month, Show and Tell and world famous raffle.

Add in Robert Calidera's FS-5 preso and a GMAX meet and greet, and
LAFCPUG heads into their ninth year with a bang.

Be there.

5] - MCE: Save the Date
......................

Macintosh Computer Expo (MCE), North Coast Mac's 15th fundraising
event, will be held this year on September 27 at the Glaser Center in
downtown Santa Rosa, CA. Join the Mac enthusiasts from all over the North
Bay to visit with Macintosh product vendors and attend informational
workshops. Since 1991 the show has grown in attendance from around 300
to over 1,000 and is now one of the largest gatherings of its type in
the North Bay.

Plan for a day of community and learning.
