Hi Gang:

Thanks for all the responses to my query on new macs.

My son called to say that he had thrown away some files from his hard
drive that he didn't know what they were. My guess is they were
related to OSX as the next time he tried to start his laptop in X it
would not load. He did a reinstall of the system software using the
"archival" method that would put a "previous system folder" on his
hard drive so all his files from the past were still on there. I am
familiar with the old "clean install" where you just put the two
system folders side by side and move into the new system folder old
files that are no longer there.

But this method does not seem to work with OSX. He put his two
"library" folders side by side and opened the folders and tried to
transfer files, but it will not allow him to do this.

How does he get his old files back into the new "library"?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
